How can the simple manipulation of sound waves make a grown man cry?

I don't consider myself a connoisseur of music in any way, but I do like to listen to it. Certain pieces like Pachelbel's Canon in D or various works by Mozart bring me to tears sometimes. I'm a very logical and largely non-emotional person. I can hook a worm without a second thought and my eyes never so much as swelled when my own grandfather died. So how can the simple manipulation of sound waves cause a grown man to shed tears?
