Have you lost faith in the ability of the Federal Government to preform?

Many have lost faith in the Feds to do their job from 9/11, Katrina, Iraq, bank failures, Congress, border control, health care and the like. Both parties are at fault both share in the blame. WITHOUT BEING PARTISAN what do you feel could be done to put any or all of the above issues and the government on track? What are your ideas or what do you feel needs to be done to create a more workable federal government?
