Who here thinks the U.S. used Afghan to fight a war against Russia?

If so, please explain how the U.S. influenced Russia to invade Afghanistan, and furthermore how much of a vested interest we had in Russia gaining control of the oil shipping lanes and subsequently being in position to dominate the oil fields of the middle east? Why?
